Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals often navigate challenges that are insufficiently understood within families, workplaces, and broader systems. With almost thirty years of experience and fluency in American Sign Language (ASL), I offer culturally informed, linguistically direct therapeutic support to individuals living with hearing loss.

 

An understanding of Deaf culture brings essential depth to humanistic counseling. When language and culture are fully respected, therapy becomes more than supportive—it becomes transformational. Bridging communication gaps within families and between loved ones can profoundly strengthen connection, clarity, and mutual understanding.

 

I work alongside Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals as they process personal experiences, strengthen self-advocacy, and navigate complex organizations and systems. Many invite partners and family members into the therapeutic process to address conflict, deepen insight, and resolve persistent misunderstandings. Small, intentional shifts in communication and behavior often yield meaningful relational (and sometimes very surprising!) positive change.

 

Individuals with hearing loss may also experience physical, intellectual, mood, or substance-related challenges. My practice provides a safe, confidential, and comfortable environment to address these concerns with competence and care.
